I am late in writing my wrap up of the Vikings v. Seahawks games for a number of reasons (Thanksgiving being a primary one), but what can be said about the game?

The Vikings chose the right week to play their sloppiest game of the season. Only against the Lions (and maybe the Browns) could the Vikings get away with so many miscues. Let’s take a look at what the score could have been without the miscues (and questionable penalties and questionable play calls).

The Bye week comes at the midpoint of the season for the Vikings this year. A perfect time for a midseason review of the season thus far.

The Week 8 matchup against the Packers was a huge game for the Vikings. Favre’s homecoming to Green Bay obscured a lot of other reason’s the game was big. One was that the Vikings hadn’t won in Green Bay since 2005, which was before Childress and also the last time they swept the season series…

Last week I added a comment to my Week 6 review that the Ravens were the victim of the Karma Police. One could say the same about the Vikings this week. After two improbable victories over San Francisco and Baltimore the Vikings were due for luck to swing the other way.

Even before I saw today’s quote from Jared Allen I was going to open this post with “It’s better to be lucky than good”. Twice now the Vikings have run up a big lead only to let their opponent get back into the game by playing incredibly poor defense.
