Health Care Reading Material

Came across two articles today that friends had posted to their Facebook pages[1. And so hat tips to both Whitney and Nicole. They\’re super cool. Too bad they\’re not your friends too.], and I thought I\’d share. Here are some relevant quotationals:

\”You can feel grateful for the protection currently offered by Medicare (or by private insurance) only if you don’t realize how much you truly spend to fund this system over your lifetime, and if you believe you’re getting good care in return.\”

Full article here.

\”In terms of finance, we force 700,000 Americans into bankruptcy each year because of medical bills. In France, the number of medical bankruptcies is zero. Britain: zero. Japan: zero. Germany: zero.\”

Full article here.

It seems obvious to me that there aren\’t going to be any simple answers when it comes to Health Care Reform, which means that the cynic in me doubts we\’ll get good reform, since our entire culture is geared towards the simple answer… but maybe I\’ll be pleasantly surprised. And if any of you who work in the health care industry want to weigh in, please do.
