Who\’s to blame?

An interesting article I read today can be found here:  http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061024/ap_on_re_us/katrina_insurance

After reading it, I\’m still not sure what my thoughts are.  At first I thought it was going to bash the government for not helping blacks as much as whites post-Katrina… but that really isn\’t the point of the article.  So instead of editorializing I\’ll let you read for yourself and type your reaction into the comments section below.

Some of the news channels have been trying to make this sound like racism and the message is falling flat. This isn’t racism at all in that the services are not being denied to non-whites, they just aren’t using them. It’s like studies that show that women aren’t paid as well as men partly because they take the salary they are offered rather then negotiating higher like men do. People need to take control of their own destinies… nothing good ever happens to people to sit back and just let life happen to them. Carpe dollar 😉

personally, i’m shocked (*shocked*) that the insurance industry has only reimbursed 59% of insured losses.
