Know-Nothing President

As I perused the headlines on news.yahoo.com this afternoon I couldn\’t help but stop and read the one titled — Bush: US is not headed into recession.

This sort of \”maybe if I close my eyes they can\’t see me\” leadership has grown so old. It truly makes one yearn for January of 2009.

At any rate, a few of the quotes from Bush are worth noting:

When asked about lawmakers efforts toward creating a second stimulus package: \”Why don\’t we let stimulus package 1, which seemed like a good idea at the time, have a chance to kick in?\”

When asked about concerns for $4 a gallon gas prices this summer: \”That\’s interesting. I hadn\’t heard that. … I know it\’s high now.\”

When asked about NAFTA: \”The idea of just unilaterally withdrawing from a trade treaty because of, you know, trying to score political points is not good policy. It\’s not good policy on the merits and it\’s not good policy as a message to send to people who have in good faith signed a treaty and worked with us on a treaty.\”

When asked about the new handpicked leader of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, Bush said he does not know much about him.

Bush concluded with: \”We\’ll make it through this period just like we made it through other periods of uncertainty during my presidency.\”

Wow… the amount of nothing being talked about is overwhelming. This sham of a presidency continually suprises me… maybe I should just take some of Bush\’s advice: \”Fool me once… shame on… shame on you…If fooled, you can\’t get fooled again.\”

See, this is why I don’t read the news much anymore. I can’t decide whether to be hopping mad or just crack open another beer and call it a night.

    Mmmmmmm… Dale’s Pale Ale
