The Five Second Rule: Validation

Every now and then science comes up with something that\’s actually useful.

Take this study. Food is dropped on floor for varying amounts of time and studied how quickly bacteria from the floor attaches to the food. Brilliant!

The good news is that not only does the five second rule hold true, testing shows that a thirty second rule could be used. Toddlers around the world rejoice!

However, no word on how to prevent the dirt and dust from the floor from sticking to your dropped food.

Yeah, but it’s funny how they had the idea to conduct that experiment just weeks after this NYT article came out.
