Some random thoughts today... mostly because I gave blood a couple of hours ago and my brain isn't working all so well without that extra pint of blood. Besides, you have to be nice to me. I've got a sticker that says so.

First... this:

Tomorrow's drop-dead date for Billy Wagner has gained a month of life. Wagner spoke with agent Bean Stringfellow yesterday and came away more hopeful than ever that he would remain the Phillies' closer.

Hold up... Bean Stringfellow? That's not legit, is it? Are sports agents making up names for themselves to sound unique? Are we going to see more of this in the future? Corn Creamedsmith? Cream Icewalters? Wurst Bratwilliams?

Second... Princess Diana died eight years ago today. The band was playing at Bubba's that night, we were on a set break when the news broke. People were sad, but Bubba's wasn't much into the whole royalty thing, so we ended up playing our last set. Irregardless... it seems like that happened just yesterday.

Third... man oh man do I love "Rescue Me." I was skeptical at first, despite my appreciation for Denis Leary's standup and his role in The Ref. But he pulls it off, and does an amazing job as Tommy Gavin. Certainly not a chipper show, but I recommend you tune in for at least one episode. And I hear that F/X is actually no longer a cable network, so everyone should be able to watch it. :)

Last... read this. (Then come back.) This is a bit of a surprise. While Art and his music are the definition of "mellow," I never pegged him as a marijuana guy. Although reading that he was pulled over near Woodstock maybe explains matters-- they hand that stuff out at the city limits, don't they?

Oy. Need more Fig Newtons...
