Have you voted yet?

I got up this morning and drove my non-showered ass to the local Baptist Church to vote. Yes, a Baptist Church. I had actually never given it much thought, but Chelle pointed out to me that it seems like voting in a church would violate some sort of separation of church and state.

What is the deal with that? I seem to recall some voting that happened in my grade school, but my parents voted in a church for every election I remember, and when I voted in college, it was at a church. Is that a MN thing, or does that happen all over?

I would think it's pretty common, since schools are under serious lockdown these days, any gathering place besides a church would have serious potential to not be impartial. Like the VFW for example...

Anyway, so Chelle and I roll in a bit after 7:00... and the line isn't out the door, but it snakes throughout the entire church. Starting in a small study room, heading back out towards the front door, down the hall to the Sunday School rooms, and then back up that hall toward the front door again, and then finally into some sort of cafeteria room (the Glory Cafe).

So an hour plus later... we're finally done. A bit longer than I was hoping to take, but well worth the time.

The moral (or morale, as Jason would say) of the story is that even though it's a pain in the ass, get out and vote! Even if you haven't registered, it's not difficult nor does it take much more time out of your day. So whenever you go today, don't let the long lines scare you off. Make your voice heard...and bring a book to read in line.

And one last thing, if you are not sure where you need to go to vote, check out: http://www.startribune.com/myballot/

It'll tell you where you need to go based on your zip and address.

And if you still haven't decided who you are going to vote for, go here or here.

Thank you, and God bless the United States of America... we need it!
