Mutterhood

First off, a quick addendum to Sunday's Tecmo column. wadE did in fact go 16-0 in college with his Bubba Oilers one "season", and the
Ginsu incident was not wholly unprovoked. Sure, losing to Disco Dave is mostly inexcusable, but Dave did go way overboard with his yelling
of "J. J. Bir-DEN!!!!" every time a play was made... including the one that won the game, I'm sure. So I'll cut wadE a little slack. And
we both agree that we could beat Clark Ken(t), which puts him at least 4th on the Tecmo All-Time Greats list. Hah. And since I have in fact
been challenged since the article came out... sorry Kate, but I'd kick your butt. :)
Ok, time to quote myself. Recently, I wrote:
"I'd give it a Trent rating... but it's not fair to Trent. Unless he makes me go see that dragon movie... then all bets are off. :)"
So... guess what movie we went to see two weekends ago? That's right, the Dragon Movie. Otherwise known as "Reign of Fire". Admittedly,
I read enough reviews that I was giving this movie half a chance as we went in... but still wholly expecting it to pull a Trent in some way.
The credits roll... Christian Bale... Matthew McNakedBongoMan... Izabella Scorpuco... I turn to Trent:
"Hey, she's a Bond Girl."
Trent replies "Yeah, and she was in Vertical Limit!"
Dude sure knows how to spoil a moment...
Anyhoo... I really did end up liking this movie. It was predictible, and the ending came kinda quick... but it never got boring, the
dragons were cool, and... well, I just liked it.

One and a half Trents
There's an establishment in the strip mall near my health club... it's a Day Care center. I got nothing against Day Care Centers, mind you.
This one seems normal enough... it's called "Begin With Us Child Care". Except they couldn't leave well enough alone. They had to try to be
clever with the name. You see, this all takes place in a suburb called Eagan, that's right, the place that brought you a street named "Johnny
Cake Ridge Road". So instead of actually using the word Begin in the name of their center, they spell it "B'Eagan". Oh how I wish I were
kidding. It's a fantastic intentionally "cute" misspelling, AND they threw in an apostrophe. Whew... Matty at least had the decency to
turn it into a vague threat... "Begin with us, huh? ... I just might..."
Speaking of my health club, what the hell is up with the music selection there? I've heard Skid Row's "Youth Gone Wild" twice in one week,
and Billy Joel's "Piano Man" twice in 36 hours! This morning I was running and they played "Silent Lucidity" by Queensryche. This is *not*
how to get people pumped up...
From dictionary.com:
untracked
adj : lacking pathways; "trackless wilderness"; "roadless areas"
It keeps popping up, and I keep getting this much closer to having a vein burst in my forehead. An athlete who starts to improve after a slump
is NOT GETTING UNTRACKED! Where the hell are my Tums? Good Lord...
Also, Wade sent me a link from the same site that indicated that "orientated" was somehow a word. Damn you common usage! Damn you all to
hell!
I saw "The Bourne Identity" with Bounce-Bounce and Papa Bear last weekend. I really really enjoyed this movie. It wasn't anything
groundbreaking, but it had a nice suspenseful story, a little bit of mystery worked in, a couple of quality "boo" moments (I saw ya jump, BB)...
All in all a good time. And Franka Potente... very cute. My sis informs me that I need to see "Run Lola Run" to see more of her... I also
read the Bourne Ultimatum, which is the sequel book to the one this movie's based on... also quite good. I'm gonna bust out the solo Trentola
for the movie. I really liked it.
Finally... quote of the night tonight, courtesy of Wade:
"I am Lord MustardCrotch!"
You see we were at the Twins game, riffing Harry Potter jokes, and then Wade spilled mustard on his... and... oh never mind, you probably
had to be there. :)
I'm out kiddies.
