Damn interesting indeed. I find it fascinating that if a cat is going to have a fall, that the optimal distance starts at six stories. And the physics behind that is, frankly, damn interesting.

Frankly, when they say I can make these myself, I think they’re overestimating my ability level for making things. However, I think the disposable camera taser is a fantastic idea. I’ve had a fascination with tasers ever since I watched Men at Work in high school.

I’ve said too much.

Ok, this is undeniably cool.

But.

There is no WAY that I could use the thing. I’m pretty sure. Naturally, I’d have to try, but man, that just seems like it’d be uncomfortable. Way worse than this.

I know, I know. Technically not a blog post.

But let’s try this on for size. That’s past a third of a trillion dollars. It’s represented in an equall unfathomable number of college scholarships. And let’s not even get into how staggering it would be represented in items from the Wendy’s dollar menu. Oh, wait.

Seriously, though. With that kind of money, you could give thirty million people a thousand dollars each. That’s ten percent of the US population. Wouldn’t that be a more popular political move than the current permanent tax cuts for less than one percent of the population? Of course, there are even more altruistic things you could do with that money - but it’s already gone. Already spent on a war predicated on WMDs that we knew were never there.

A-freakin’-men to that. Although I think the commenters are underestimating the beauty of a possible McCarver vs. Morgan crap-off for the title of World’s Worst Color Commentator (Baseball Edition). I agree with the basic premise, though: in an ideal world we’d get all those angles, and the announcers would talk about all the stuff that happens with each play. But ESPN wouldn’t even stick with the camera that showed home plate from dead center field (thus accurately showing balls and strikes) because of negative public reaction, so I don’t think we’ll be seeing any of these ideas implemented any time soon. Seriously, that dead center camera was brilliant. I’m still upset they canned it, and that was like ten years ago.

On the bright side, at least the baseball doesn’t explode into flame on the way to the plate. I wouldn’t put anything past FOX after their hockey coverage.
