Hot Stove: Puntober Edition

Alex Baseball

If you haven’t yet heard, the darling little spendthrifts of the Junior Circuit, your Minnesota Twins, have signed Nick Punto to a two year deal (with an option for a third). I have mixed feelings on this deal, although my overall take is a positive one. Let’s run through a few talking points, just for fun:

If I Ran The World: Gay Marriage Edition

News Politics Religion wadE

The furor over California’s passage of Proposition 8, an amendment to the state’s constitution banning same-sex marriage, continues to boil. Newsweek had a recent cover story discussing whether or not the Bible supports or condemns gay marriage.

Music Wade A

today’s challenge: name the top five bands you want to see play live before you croak. (or, play again, if you’ve already seen them.) the only rule is that the band must still be active today– as much as i’d love to see guns ‘n’ roses circa 1988, i don’t think that’s gonna happen. stupid buckethead. anyway, here goes (in reverse order):

4. Cake
3. Weezer
2. Toad the Wet Sprocket
1. Better Than Ezra

how ’bout you?

For that, we will always be grateful and you’ll have a special place in our hearts.

Week 13: Vikings vs. Bears

Football wadE

As I walked through the cold toward the Metrodome last Sunday night I was nervous. Make no mistake; I want the Vikings to win their division. My disdain for the Bears and Packers far outweighs my disdain for Coach Brad Childress, washed up quarterback Gus Frerotte, and whoever the Vikings special teams coach is. Even though a complete collapse would ensure wholesale changes in the coaching ranks, and different QBs; even though this team is deeply flawed and has little chance of winning a playoff game; I still wanted the Vikings to win that game badly.
