Counting Crows: A Non-Review

Counting Crows today released their fifth studio album, Saturday Nights and Sunday Mornings, their first release in six years. I’m guessing at that figure. It could also be five or seven years - I really don’t feel like fact checking. Regardless, it’s been a while.

While I do have quite an interest in the album, I may not get around to acquiring it for a while. So, in lieu of a new review, I thought I’d take today to revisit the best of the past. That’s right, I burned a CD of my favorite Crows songs. Jump with me past the break to see the tracklist.

Twins Preview A-Go-Go

I’ve been wanting to sit down and write up a Twins preview for a couple of weeks now. However, there’s been so much roster turnover and uncertainty, what with the whole trading Johan, losing Hunter and Silva, possibly trading Nathan scenarios, and so on, that I wanted to wait until we were closer to the final roster to take a crack at it. that’s correct– boston’s backup first baseman missing the first two games of the season due to a sore neck qualifies as top news on espn.com. i eagerly await the update on long reliever manny delcarmen, who apparently is a little tired after not getting to bed until late on sunday night.

the calendar is telling me that it’s the first day of spring; even so, the weather terrorists have already predicted 4-6 inches of snow for tonight and tomorrow. and, falling into their trap, i’m already anxious about it. and i hate that.

i’m not sure if it’s the same in other areas, but minnesotans are very concerned about the weather. well, hold that; the local news networks *assume* minnesotans are very concerned about the weather. many mornings i find myself treadmilling with the 6 a.m. broadcasts of various local networks (c’mon– Sportscenter’s college basketball rundowns are not an option) and see several segments devoted to the day’s forecast. these segments are smoothly surrounded by pieces on death and violence in the metro area, but that’s an article for another time.
