I’m back!

Site News wadE

I know, you missed me…

Whaddya mean “who?”.  Me!  wadE!

No, the other one, the one with the goatee… the guy at the top of the page who looks like he’s boxing holding an electric canned ham in each hand.

Yeah!  That guy.

So if you hadn’t noticed, I’d been gone for awhile.  I was in the hospital recovering from a bout with … ok, I’m lying for your sympathy.  In fact I was in Australia and New Zealand for 3 weeks, and then dealing with re-entry back into my job after that.  I know, you can stop crying for me now.

At any rate, I’m catching up on the changes and good work that’s been happening on SP since I’ve been gone, and you can look forward to me actually participating very soon.

I promise.

it’s a gas gas gas

The Gambit Wade A

i’m just catching up on last week’s SOTU coverage. quoth the shrub:

And now even more dramatic advances are within reach. Tonight, I ask Congress to join me in pursuing a great goal. Let us build on the work we’ve done and reduce gasoline usage in the United States by 20 percent in the next 10 years.

whaaa? excuse me while i do a triple-take, like i did when i used to eat Triples Cereal. (appropriate kudos to x-entertainment for the clip.)

dubya wants to reduce gasoline usage? are we finally veering away from the “damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead” logic that assumes that some scientist figure out a way to get the planet out of this mess in the future? is the administration now acknowledging that many of its past policies– such as tax write-offs for SUV owners– have had a very negative impact on the planet? will we be hearing government ads promoting carpooling, public transportation, and the like?

not really. more shrub:

PCP: Super Bowl Coaches

Football

If you haven’t already, you’re going to be hearing a lot in the next week about the race of the two coaches in this year’s Super Bowl. They’re black. It’s historic, certainly – there has never before been a black coach in a Super Bowl. What we’d like to discuss is: is it relevant? Does/should it matter to our society that they’re black? Is it important?

A game and a show

Alex Baseball Skunch

As part of their promotions schedule for this year, the Pittsburgh Pirates are going to offer live concerts after some of their games this year.

I would have to ponder that concept as a serious contender for my ideal date. I’m just saying.

It’s kind of tucked away in the article, but I urge you not to overlook a noteable band in the lineup. Domo origato, baby.

Finally, please also note that they have a Bob Walk bobblehead in the works. No details were offered as to the difficulty of reproducing a bobble-mullet.

Geography Lesson

Alex The Gambit

Folks, this is what we in the Gambit business call “mailing it in”. I present you with my favorite geography lesson of all time. And if you get the tune stuck in your head, well, you’re welcome.
